Frizzy Hair Fix

I have had this problem for quite some time, and today while browsing youtube style/beauty guru videos (yes, it has become on of my summer addictions! JuicyStar07 is my fave!) and I said to myself, "Okay, why don't I search this on youtube for a quick fix!?" Not that easy. Well, either that, or I didn't have enough patience for that. I quickly searched "frizzy hair fix" on Google, and this website: funadvice.com pops up. I will quit explaining and show you with pictures now:

Knowing me, you'd know I just had to print screen it on here to show you all how proud of myself that I am for finding an answer so quickly!

A couple years ago I had my Mom buy me Herbal Essences, and I guess that's why I just noticed that I had "developed" this frizz problem. hmm. Anywho, I am one of those people who's hair can't really take it when you wash it every day. I do it every-other-day, but wash my face daily, remove make-up, etc. So I am a clean person I guess. And my friends know I also love to use Bath and Body Works perfumes. (:

I scribbled "Herbal Essences" down on the shopping list, and in a couple days, *poof* Goodbye frizzy hair! I wish I would've known this before all that hot florida sun. Oh well!

Before I close, just FYI I have a new youtube channel that I share with my friends. It's called KatyForever13. I think it may have some potential of having around 100+ views per video, right? More videos coming soon! x)

OMG Everyone!!! I am so excited that I won Project Girlsense Season 1! It is a great honor, and I would like to thank all of the judges and fellow contestants that helped me get this far! Congrats to Mall too for recieving the honor of 2nd place! (:

Beginning today, on StyleMeBlog, I am going to begin doing Reviews. I review a product, and I tell you the star rating, and why I gave the product this particular rating. Today's Product is Smooth Away. [AS SEEN ON TV] Judging by the title of this post, you can tell I have a thing or two to say about it... Read On to find out!

Smooth Away

A product used as a razor alternative.

I give this product, Smooth Away, 1.5 stars. Why such a low rating? Read on.

I was walking through Target about a month ago, right before my Florida trip, and stumbled across the "Smooth Away" product. Probably every girl in the world, like me, loathes shaving. Mostly when you cut yourself, or miss a big patch of stubble completely. The Smooth Away product looked promising, and for 5 bucks, it seemed like something worth trying. Thus, I threw it in my basket, and headed for Checkout.

Around two weeks later, after vacation, I saw it lying on my bedside table, and brought it to the bathroom. Tore open the box, and read the instructions.

"Wet and Dry the Skin, Move pad in a circular motion clockwise three times, then counter-clockwise three times"

Easy enough, right? I picked up a pad, and examined it. A big pink pad with a spot to slip your hand in, and a mini one that looks almost the same. on the bottom of the pad there is a black surface which was sort of roughish, but mostly smooth.

I followed the instructions, soaping, washing, drying, and began to move the pad on my thigh in a circular motion. It took me literally 5 MINUTES just to do one patch as big as my palm. And, wherever I rubbed, a big patch of white, flaky, dry skin emerged. Irritated, I hopped in the shower nixing the product alltogether. I lotioned up my legs afterwards, and feeling the spots where I used the Smooth Away, there were Still little hairs popping up.

I got frustrated and threw it away altogether. Hence "Smooth Away = Throw Away".

They should really mention these things on the commercial!

Sweats and a Tee-shirt aren't enough

*sigh* Ever have that feeling where you tried so hard to find something special for a extremely special even, say The First Day of Eighth Grade 2009, and you just couldn't no matter how many stores I went through, coupons you clipped, babysitting dollars you've saved? Well, we're in the same boat. I spent from 10:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. combing through my local mall desperate for The Outfit to appear before my eyes. Sadly, at the end of the day, all I ended up with was a bottle of Dancing Waters [or is it Waters Dancing...?] Bath and Body Works perfume. [insert very, very sad frowny face here].

Sure, I saw countless cute and affordable ensembles in my size, but the problem is that the clothes I pick out from the others as adorable, end up being too "Grown up" for me. For example, why would I go to Middle School wearing a pencil skirt, and cheetah print silk blouse with polished gold bangles, while the ideal 8th grade outfit is a pair of sweats and a Hollister logo tee. *another sigh*

My friends are beginning to notice my obsession with jewelry, and let me confess that the reason is namely because these are the only things I can use to dress up a pair of Sweats and Hollister tee, to make it fill my fashionista ego. Thus, I honestly cannot wait to grow up and grow into this ego of mine. Okay, I know when I'm older I will only wish to be younger, but that's then, and this is... now.

Any of you have this problem?

Yep, that was another one of my many rants. Ignore me if you choose.

Gosh, am I a bad blogger or what?

With my Mom's surgery and such, I have been running around like a crazy person for the past two weeks, and somehow dropped blogging from my juggled computer-life. :P

Well, I am back {I sure hope so!} and brought some new SMB Polls and new topics along with me!

Fashion/Recession{ista} Flair

Neon Colors

With the recession in full swing . . . .

Stores have been trying to rake in the cash by constantly bringing new trends back from the ashes. One of these trends would be, *drum roll pleaseeee* NEON COLORS.

This trend is one that I am quite fond of lets say. Mainly because it's easy to wear both fashionably, economically, and recession-omically. haha. Plus, since I am more of a Fashionista at heart, AND most of the clothes that I DESIRE, A) have a pricetag with too many zeros to tally up, or B) Three sizes too big. But, it is extremely easy to stroll into Delia*s and pick up a dozen tank tops in electric, neony colors and pair them with a pair of white, or dark washed jeans.

So, that's where most of us are left. If you were given the chance to wear crazy colors with comfort AND style, wouldn't you pounce on it?

A New Playlist for SMB!

Gosh, I change my taste in music like I change my blog templates! So, like the polls, I have moved on to a FASHIONISTA FRIENDLY playlist of songs. I don't usually like curse words in song, but they are so discreet, I think we will find a way to you know, live? haha.

Most of the songs are inspired from my FAVE movie at the moment, Devil Wears Prada. I treated myself to a movie night last week, and what did I see in the "Free Movie" section? Exactly what I was looking for in a movie.

For July, our Fashionista of the Month, is non other than Emma Watson. This is a bit about her from a Google source:

Fun in the Sun!

Today was BY FAR THE BEST of the 5 total days I have been here. It was so sunny, the water looked almost AQUA, and there were barely any clouds in the sky.
Minus the 15 minute lightning/thunder storm, the day was perrrfect! :)
Well, got to go prepare for the FOURTH!!! Hope everyone is as excited as I am! I hear Florida passes in flying colors with their fireworks.

Hey All!
Thanks for the wonder-some comments. lol.
This week has been pretty rough on Florida.
But-- today was absolutely awesomee!!!!!
I woke up to not a cloud in the sky! The sky was blue, and there was no fog whatsoever blocking the view of the sun and palm trees. :D
I tanned and swam in the heat and sun almost all day, and enjoyed every second! This was what I had been waiting for! Right now, I am typing away to the view of the prettiest orangey-pink sunset I have ever seen, and everything feels perfect!

Rain, Rain, Go Away. Please?

Hey All!
Today was a so-so kind of day I guess.I woke up to beatiful clear skies, hopped out of bed and exclaimed, "I CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE SUN!!!" lol.
Well, not really. I kind of just told my grandparents that we MUST go to the beach.
We got everything all together, grabbed our beach umbrellas, towels, chairs, noodles, snorkels, etc., and ran down to the boardwalk.
To escape the skorching sun, we stopped into this hugeee souveneir [sp?] shop, and bought some t-shirts and HERMIT CRABS.Mine's name is Chloe, and my sis's is Hermoine.
Just as we got to the beach and snorkeled for about 30 mins, big black storm clouds came over head- and I think you know where it went from here.
Rain, Thunder, Lightning. Boom.
*sigh* At least we got some beach time in.
This week is not going in my favor.

Under the Sea...

Aloha!
Even though the weather was terrible for the 3rd day in a row, I did go swimming!
My grandpa is big on snorkeling, and told us if we were interested, we could try them out. We decided on going to the pool first to learn the basics, which I picked up real fast.
I loved the feeling of breathing underwater! It was spectacular.
Afterwards, we were so thrilled with the snorkels, and the sky was clear enough, {well, as clear as it's been for the past 3 days..} so we took our snorkels and towels to the beach.
We snorkeled for 2 hours straight!!! Time flies when your collecting shells I guess.
The rest of the day went by as usual. I went shopping again, but minus my little sis.
GTG. Icecream awates. ;)

Rainy Day Parade.

Hey All!
Today's weather called for 80% chance of rain, so out plans for the beach somersalted into a trip to a HUGEE mall. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe, where I got a gigantic ceasar salad. {YUMMY}At the RFC there were "Lightning Shows" every 30 minutes, where lights flash and loud sounds come from speakers. It totally freaks out the younger kids, but pretty cool for the older ones. The mechanic animals move, by far the best are the elephants or the apes.I haven't stepped foot on the Florida beach sand yet, but I am hoping it clears up by tomorrow.

It's raining cats and dogs out this morning, and it is so foggy, I can barely see out the condo's window.
But, the fun must go on. We plan to go to the local Mall, {Did I mention that it's hugggeeee?} to shop, and eat at the Rainforest Cafe.
But, for some strange reason, I am not in the mood to shop. I guess the weather is sending me depressing vibes.

Our flight got in around 5:30-6:00ish, so right around Dinner time.
It's pretty gross here, clouds and pouring rain, forecasted for the next few days...
We are planning on going to Aquariums and Sea World though..
My Sis is physched about seeing some whale/dolphin thing, but I was looking forward to improving my farmers tan, but I guess Mother Nature disapproves.

How to wear Animal prints

Do it casually. Don't try to be cute or clever by matching too many elements of an outfit; you'll look like you're trying too hard to make a fashion statement. Instead, aim for a balanced ensemble of complementary pieces.

Be a minimalist. No one wants to feel as if they have just gone on safari after spending time with you. Animal print looks best when present only in one pattern in no more than one or two elements of an outfit.

Just because something is available in animal print doesn't mean it should actually be worn. There is no shortage of clothing manufacturers out there committing fashion crimes with animal print. Translation: do not wear pants, jackets, coats or skirts in animal print patterns. Limit the print to smaller items or accessories - unless, that is, you are going for the Cruella DeVille look.

Print looks chic as a compliment to neutrals and solid color-schemes, especially basic black, chocolate brown, and beige. Smart use of animal prints: As a hand-bag, shoes, a scarf, a shirt (especially under a blazer), mittens or muffs.

Wild Print Tips

Keep everything else simple, elegant and sleek.
You are not a lion; don't wear a wild mane. If there ever was a time to have big hair, this is not it.
Animal print may bring out your wild side, but resist wearing animal print with a dangerously short skirt... you'll look like a cougar on the prowl.
Finally: If in doubt, do without!

Reruns, Reciepts, and other Lovely things

Whew. I bet you could tell from my lousy post below this that I was pretty busy today. x)
All my friends are at camp, so this week was supposed to be one of those "Gosh, why can't the week just end already." kind of weeks. {that sentence had the word, week three times! xP}
Well. Where do I start? Oh yes. This morning I had a tennis match at 9 which I just so happened to have won.
The day went uphill from there, with me being dragged around to erands and such, until right around 2ish. With me friend-less, I lounged around and watched "True Jackson VP" reruns until 4'oclock, when I babysat and was given this really cool bracelet which I described on the forum.
After that around 5, my parents and I looked frantically for this darn receipt for our new plasma, which needs to go back to BestBuy to be replaced.
But, enough about me. Let's see what's up in the fashion world.

{BRISBANE, Australia (Billboard) – Singer Katy Perry's representatives are attempting to block an Australian fashion designer from trade-marking her clothing range with the brand name Katie Perry.
The designer, who started her high-end Katie Perry loungewear label two years ago, initiated a trademark application in September 2008 and recently opened her first outlet in Sydney. But she was hit with a cease-and-desist order from representatives of the EMI-signed artist, in an attempt to halt the "similar name" being used in connection with the clothing label.
The Australian businesswoman was born Katie Jane Perry, but sometimes goes by the name Katie Howell.

THE BLINKING PHONE DRESS

{LONDON (Reuters Life!) – Former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova presented a prototype dress to reporters that is designed to light up when the wearer's mobile telephone rings.
British fashion student Georgie Davies dreamed up the knee-length short-sleeved white dress as part of a school project with mobile phone-maker Sony Ericsson to figure out ways of incorporating new technology into fashion.
Davies said the dress is designed to eventually be connected to the wearer's phone by Bluetooth wireless technology, so she can be alerted to a call even in noisiest of places.
"When you're in a pub or a bar, you can never, ever hear your phone," 20-year-old Davies told Reuters on Wednesday.
One shoulder of the dress down to the hip is embellished with translucent white scales that move and light up.
Sharapova showed off the dress to a gaggle of photographers and a crowd of passers-by from the window of a luxury department store in central London.}

Hilary Duff Comeback Stuff

I was leafing through an issue of People the other day that I had plucked off the check-out counter rack at Wal-Mart. Along with the glitzy celebs like Halle Berry, Lindsay Lohan, and Kate Moss, I saw one familiar, grinning face. Hilary Duff. Come to think of it, I had see A LOT of snapshots of that familiar face, plastered on countless pages of PEOPLE magazine. I mean of all magazines, Hilary Duff, as in "Lizzie McGuire", DISNEY, Metamorphosis, is featured? Apparently Hilary has signed on with DKNY jeans with her own sort of line, Hemme, or was it Femme? Oh yes. Femme. I used to be this HUGGGEEE Hilary fanatic. Flipped out when I got her first CD in my stocking, on Christmas, when I was like 10. Hilary slowly faded out of the picture once I moved on to Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry, and all of the more 'older' (in a way) singers. I had totally forgotten her through all these years, until that one day at the check-out counter of Wal-mart.

So, here I am, Google-searching Hilary Duff, and coming up with TONS of things I had never thought of her doing. Good old Lizzie McGuire. The Disney Girl. She has been on the red carpet! The target of the style-searchers, and of course, People. How much better does that get?

An AMAZING, MUST-HAVE Summer Reading book for the Fashionistas and Shopaholics everywhere!

FASHION 101- A Crash Course in Clothing

I Went to Borders Books a few days ago with a slip of paper I had copied info on a book I found while browsing on http://www.amazon.com/. The name? Fashion 101: A Crash Course in Clothing.
The guy at the Help desk said they didn't have the book in stock, so he'd order it, and it would arrive in- dare I say it- 5-10 business days. I give him my $20, and sulk back to the Appearence section.
Here I was this morning, minding my own business when the UPS guy rings my bell, and there is my beautiful brown cardboard package!!! It didn't take 5-10 business days! *yipee* It took Only 2. ;) Me and my good luck.

You all are probably wondering what this book from heaven is about... And I am terrible with book reviews, so I turn to http://www.sporkfashion.com/.

Here is their Review:

If you are a fashion idiot, this is the book for you.
Fashion 101 is truly a crash course in clothing. Written for teenagers, it describes every conceivable clothing style, with tips on how to wear them and the history behind each item. For the most part, info is provided in an encyclopedic fashion, making it more of a reference than something you have to sit down and read in large gulps. Everything is divided into sections - jewelry, dresses, tops, shoes, etc.
If you are a little fashion-phobic, but want to up your style, this is a great, unintimidating way to get your feet wet. Everything is explained for the layman, from fabrics to necklines. The only downside is that there are no photographs - everything is illustrated with drawings. I imagine getting permission to reprint famous and not-so-famous fashions is a daunting task - both physically and financially. But this definitely has some useful info, including the tale behind the creation of Hermes’ infamous Birkin bag - something that I didn’t even know.

Seeeeee? Doesn't it sound simply amazing?
Other than the 'fashion-idiot' part. *sigh*

What is your craziest obsession?
Nothing crazy, but I always get a week's worth of small 2% plain Face greek yogurt. I rarely go a day without eating one, it's my mid-afternoon fix.

What clothing brand do you wear the most?
While living in Paris and Toronto, I'd say most of what I owned I got at H&M. But since I moved to Ohio and most recently North Carolina, H&M stores have been relatively hard to come by. Forever 21 is now invading my closet. The quality sometimes doesn't compare but price, trend & variety rocks!

If you could be one fashion designer, who would you be?
Myself when I've made it or not. heheThere are many Designers whose creations I admire but none whom I am entirely loyal to.The one I've admired more than others is Sophia Kokosalaki, especially her previous SS collections.

If you could bring one trend back from the past what would it be?
All trends I'm into are rocking the sidewalks across the world as we speak! 70's bohemian, Goddess draping, rock'n roll, grunge, 50's & red lipstick. Mixed amongst each other these trends create the most unique and interesting looks. I also can't get enough of the Goddess look. So bring it on!

Would you rather be rich and unknown, or famous but poor?
Fame in itself is a double edge sword, so I'd definitely want to be rich and unknown! Not being able to roam around without being bothered would make me more miserable than being poor.

Crab Paperweights and Ledo's

A couple hours after I made that post yesterday, a LOT of things happened. I woke up aroun 7 ish and went "Bargain Hunting" with my neighbor, I ended up getting this dress manican bulletin board [$1], a COACH keychain [25cents], a colorful crab paperweight [50 cents], and webcam [$2]. You never know what treasures you'll find for $3.75!
Then I spent about 5-6 hours with my friend @ her Sisters FH tournament. :) We took a very long walk around the area where the t'ment was, ate Ledo's Pizza which I LOVE, and tried to finish HUGE lime snocones. :)
After that, when I got home my other friends invited me to go to my first "Demolition Derby". For all of you who are clueless of what that is, it is where old beat up cars crash into each other, and catch on fire. They also spew mud all over the place, and into the crowd. *blech*
We had funnel cakes, and I ended up seeing a lot of people I knew.... xD
I had a looonnnngggg day.

Today, I plan on going to my cousins Championship [?] game! *eep*, and lounging @ the pool with friends. So... right now, my outfit is as follows:

Today:
Brown top with polka dots, low cut. White tank with rhinestones around the rim underneath. Long necklace with a silver chain, brown circle with a star, heart, and key dangling off of the circle. I will be bargain hunting tomorrow morning @ Garage sales, IF it stops raining.
Today it's 40 degrees, and tomorrow it is going up, up, up, to 80!
So... I am crossing my fingers for NO rain.

Monday is my last day of school, and I am soo happy!

YMI mini light-washed jean skirt with sparkely lace trim, Blue Delias "Peace Out" tee, American Eagle striped blue tank underneath, Lord and Taylor Mirror Flip flops, and a bandaid on my big toe. *ouch* Haha, also, my sandollar bracelet and pastelle beaded bracelet. Mirror earrings and pearl necklace.

Blue and green plaid Aero knee-length shorts, Teal American eagle Babydoll and green undershirt. Along with my FAVE sandollar bracelet and peace sign one.

Well, I'm addicted to my Viva La Juicy perfume. I just adore the smell and I can't go a day without wearing it!

What clothing brand do you wear the most?
Well, I wear alot of Aeropostale, although it's not my favorite..it's just a good price, I guess. But I also have lotsa vintage stuff I get from everywhere!

If you could be one fashion designer, who would you be?
Ooh, this is tricky. I would have to say Betsey Johnson. I absolutely adore her cute things! Her designs are so funky and original, and colorful, and I love that!

If you could bring one trend back from the past what would it be?
I've always admired the chic outfits of the fifties..I love the loose dresses with classic patterns and cute bows so I would have to say that!

Would you rather be rich and unknown, or famous but poor?
Rich and unknown, of course! I could never live without the luxury items you receive when you're rich! Haha.

Those starlets just can’t get enough of designer fringed purses this season, and Taylor Swift is no exception. But instead of opting for the standard Roberto Cavalli or JJ Winters, Taylor is carrying a frigned leather handbag from the lesser-known Texas label SL McFadin. I love the bag and its dark chocolate leather, but I’m not crazy about Taylor’s outfit. A floral dress, striped cardi, blue flats, and a boho bag = way too much. It's maybe a kind of boring, but I don't have very crazy obsession. One of my obsessions is Rosebud Salve Strawberry, I have to put it everyday on my lips, but that isn't that crazy I guess

I'm doubting between ZARA and ASOS (that includes Lipsy and ASOS' own brand). I love both brands.

If you could be one fashion designer, who would you be?
Stella McCartney! She has amazing collection, especially the S/S 09 collection! The nude colours, the sequins. I love it!

If you could bring one trend back from the past what would it be?
I'd like to see more boho. You see it this summer a bit, but it's more of the gladiator sandals etcetera. It remembers me a bit of the summer of 2005, the boho-trend was hot. I just became 15 years old and fell in love with all the sequins in the stores.

Would you rather be rich and unknown, or famous but poor?
I'm quite materialistic, so I choose to be rich and unknown.

"Kami!" I growled angerly.
"Oops." she said sarcastically, covering her mouth with a manicured hand. "I didn't know you were sitting there, Nallah."
"Oh yes you did." I said through clenched teeth.
Taking a step backwards, I grabbed the closest weapon in sight. An Elmers Glue bottle.
"Nallah, noooooo!" Mehgan exclaimed, trying to pull me back with all her might.
"Go Ahead." Kami said firmly. "Squirt me."
I hesitated and put the bottle down.
"See," she turned to Kara, Klaire, and the crowd of wanna-be's around her. "I knew she didn't have it in her."
And before she could even pop one bubble, or utter one cackle, she was squirted with a fresh glob of Elmers Glue, all over her flawless face and chartreuse cardigan.
"MRS. CHOOOOOO!!!!" she shrieked.
Kara and Klaire raced out the door in pursuit.
Through the white river of glue pouring down her spray-tanned face, I could see Kami's eyes bulge, and her fangs gleam.

A HEART OF A DAWG!

People may wear their heart on a sleeve, but this adorable long-coated chihuahua puppy wears his heart on his back.
This male chihuahua was born in May with a perfect heart shaped marking in his fur. His owner has named him Heart-Kun.
His owner was stunned when she saw the heart marking on his back because she had never seen anything like that before.
What a big heart for a little dog!!!

Trends have magically come "back from the past", and are seen everywhere present day. Today we will examine three of these such trends.

"The 80’s.... Neon was all the rage, and shoulder pads were not only reserved for quarterbacks, but for office ladies. And we saw that in 2008, the 80’s trends have made their way back into the national consciousness."

Okay, so at the moment the 80's are in:

Okay, so "Jelly shoes" are now back from the 80's and 90's believe it or not. Try finding them in the 1$ section of target, at the local Payless, or online, and you may just find a pair in your size. Surprisingly confortable, I am relieved that finally something COMFORTABLE is "in" for a change. I sure hope this lasts! Try your best to keep the pebbles out, and you'll be set.

-Black-and-white - this retro inspired style always looks sophisticated and eye-catching at the events. This year expect occasional bows and bow-ties elements ala Zac Pozen.

- Metallics - everything including gowns, clutches and shoes. Unfortunately this trend is still going strong on red carpets, and I must admit it always does the work of attracting cameras to the spark.

This weekend has been very VERY HOT! Here in MD, we broke the 85 degree mark, and went all the way into the 90's.... 0.o Today my friends and I washed a car, and made strawberry, banana [and V8 fusion] smoothies. *yummy* We did the "Hoedown Throwdown" till we could no more, and perished in the heat. Tonight we ate dinner outside, (grilled chicken and steak cabobs) with the 'birds and the bees' haha. (:

Gucci vs. Pucci and "The Clique"

Okay, I was asking myself today... "What is the difference between Gucci, and Pucci?" At first I thought that one was the knock-off version of the other, but I learned that I was wrong later....

SMB B O O K CLUB

I am currently in love with "The Clique" series.... Here's a quick summary of the series:

The Clique series, is one about a typical Middle School rich, snotty clique. When Claire moves into Massie Block's [clique alpha] guesthouse, Massie feels like her life is ruined. Since when does her mother think she and Claire will be anything opposite of enemies? Massie convinces the rest of their clique to be against her new guest, making the only way for Claire to be accepted, is lying. Lying her way into the clique. In the end, she is accepted, and the rest of the books in the Clique series, are about the ups, and the downs of being controlled by Massie Block, in a typical clique.

At the moment, I am [not reading in order] reading "Invasion of the Boy Snatchers". I finished "Sealed with a Diss" and "Dial "L" for Loser". Happy reading!

"It's a long shot, but we take long shots, because they just might go in"

Last night, while I was at Youth Group, my parents and sister, Ashley went out for a ride on our boat. While boarding, my sister was trying to get a better hold on her change purse full of $100+ of birthday money, and it slipped from her hands, and landed in the water, floating for a couple of seconds before sinking down under leaving only bubbles behind. My sister sobbed and sobbed on the dock, but there was nothing they could do about it. Fishing for it with a net, it was still hopeless... The money was completely gone.

This morning, My Dad and Ashley, went to the boat again to try to convince Ashley that there was no way that she would see her money again. Unbelievably after chanting the quote at the top of this post, and on their last try with the net, up came her "I love Pink" change purse, along with all her Money, giftcards, library cards, etc. Don't believe me? ☆ Britians Got Talent ☆

Susan Boyle from the UK is 47 years old, unnemployed, and talented. On Britians Got talent, Susan sang "I dreamed a dream" by an artist that is so amazing, that here in the US there is no equivelent to her. Susan nailed it, and got a standing ovation from Piers and Taylor [<= I think that is her name. Simon declared that "[he] knew it from the minute that [susan] walked out of that stage, that [she] was going to be extraordinary." haha. On youtube, "TheUberDeejay" described the event as:

The most stand out audition of the show was that of 47 year old Susan Boyle. Susan first appeared with Ant and Dec declaring that she is a single woman who lives with her cat. Not only has she never been married but she also admitted that she had never even been kissed. Susan looked like your typical batty old aunt, gold dress and all and when she walked on to stage you could just feel the scorn of the audience. Simon Cowell didnt look too hopeful when Susan said she wanted to be a professional singer like Elaine Paige and when she said she would be singing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.But then Susan sang and the amazement of the crowd was clear. It was the type of audition that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck and the tears well in your eyes, it certainly had that effect on Amanda Holden. Piers Morgan called the performance stunning and Simon told Susan she was a little tiger. She seemed a bit baffled by the description.

BONUS CHALLENGE 4: Primarily

The world is full of many different colors. But all these colors originate from 3 colors... the primary colors, RED, BLUE, and YELLOW. So your bonus challenge for this week is to make a fashion set where the outfit is made up of only the 3 primary colors!
All the parts of the outfit that you WEAR, like the shirt/skirt/pants/jewelry/bag/shoes, must be either red, blue, or yellow.
You DON'T have to use all 3 colors... but you can't use any colors other than those 3, if that makes sense. :) All other items, such as photos/background items/perfumes etc. don't have to be in the 3 primary colors. But the point is for the outfit to be made up of those colors.

This is a FASHION challenge. No art sets will be accepted. Your entries for this challenge are due WEDNESDAY at MIDNIGHT EST.

One more thing gals... I'm going to Cheery's next week, and I'm leaving Thursday. So if I'm late with the results, sorry, but I'll try to get them up while I'm there.

Remember a while back? When I made predictions on fashion trends to come? Well, I was searching for a pair of those T-strap Sandals, and I came across two almost identical pairs from different stores for waayyy different prices. Lookie here:

Obviously, I bought the Forever21 pair, and bought a top and also a pair of shades for the same price as those t-straps at delias. I mean, they may be better in some way, but think I'll stick with the ones I got. I am waiting for the ten day shipping date to get here.... Don't think I will last that long. :P

But, lesson learned... shop around before you click BUY.

I don't know if your christians, but I spied god today. All of this week, it has been raining at the most inconvenient times, [in between classes while trying to reach them OUTDOORS] and the wind, howling. Today we had an early dismissal from school because of the end of 3rd quarter, and almost right when we got home, the sky turned blue and all the rain clouds vanished. odd. The wind was still there though of course, and my friend was stuck babysitting her younger sister. We were in my friends 'woodsy' backyard on the swingset, when the wind began to pick up. My friend's little sis was on the bars, struggling to get up. She then gave up and walked away from the bars, when a big gust of wind blew a huge LOG of a branch out of the sky, landing in the very spot under the bars. It was the doing of god. We hugged her like crazy and told her how lucky she was.

Since we have been talking about frightful weather today, how convenient is it to introduce fashionable waterproof accessories?

RAINY DAY FASHION TIPS

1. Raincoat: I'm not talking about the coats that zip themselves up into a bag, or those from MEC that look as if they are made for treks through the Costa Rican rainforests. When I say raincoat, I mean a fully-lined, double-breasted trench coat, from a place like Urban Outfitters, that comes in an assortment of colours. These fashionable jackets will keep you dry, warm and stylish so you don't have to cry about being wet, when Montreal decides to cry on you.

2. Umbrella: We all love those umbrellas that shrink to the size of your forearm when closed and always come in handy when we're caught in a light drizzle. But on those days (much like the ones we've been experiencing recently) when the rain is coming down as hard as rocks and being swept under and up those little collapsable contraptions, we are in need of bigger and better protectors. It's time to get a real umbrella and while you're at it, don't be shy to pick one with an endearing design. The cuter it is, the trendier you'll look "walkin' in the rain."

3. Rain Boots: Rain boots are one accessory you won't have any trouble finding nowadays. Colourful rain boots in an assortment of patterns are being sold almost everywhere. At first, they were a tad obnoxious, but after dealing with soaking wet socks at the end of every school day for the past two weeks, I've started to take a liking to these tall rubber shoes. For wet students, these are a real hit.

4. Scarves: This sounds like an odd addition to your rain attire, but scarves have proven to be a handy rain guard for many people I know. While protecting our precious necks from the cold, wet wind, scarves also seem to provide useful coverage for our hair! When running from Leacock to Shatner, or whatever short distance you may be attempting, the scarf can save your hair from getting wet if you hold it above you or wrap it around your head. Although it sounds like a silly gesture, if done properly it can look quite elegant, while allowing your 'do to last the day.

5. iPod with happy music: The last accessory that I will suggest is this-an iPod or any music device with the most upbeat tunes you have. Walking to class in the pouring rain is enough to spark minor depression in even the happiest of people. Waking up morning after morning to the same grey sky may even be fatal for some. One of the best ways to conquer this bad mood is to listen to some cheerful music on your way to wherever you are going. The iPod is a modish accessory in any kind of weather, but particularly helpful in the rain. Listen to a little "Dreams be dreams" by Jack Johnson and the mornings won't be so harsh on our hopeful souls.

Dear SleevelessStyle,

I am assuming you are referring to tops without the sleeves on the shoulders... To tell you the truth, I think that I would stick to "sleeved tops". Maybe you can layer them with other sleeved tops underneath, or something like that if you are feeling selfconcious. You should always go out feeling confident about actually feeling like you look great is always a plus! Maybe try referring to my earlier post about empacized waist line tops, for more ideas, as well as watching, "What Not to Wear", on TLC. (<= Thats what I watch to keep on top of things) G.U.P.S

Great Work everyone!!! :) I am so proud with everyone's sets, and nice try Rachel. Maybe try your hardest to build up your skills for next year's contest! :) Again, remarkable work gals! Judging was tough this week because of all the awesome sets.

WEEK 3

MAIN CHALLENGE 3: Change it Up

The people whose sets I most enjoy on Polyvore are those who don't have a set style. It's awesome when people use their creativity and do something different. And this week is your chance to do exactly that, because you're going to change up your style.
So here's how it works. I have 4 layouts, and 4 styles. Each of you is going to be assigned one. The 4 of you that get a layout assignment are going to need to make a fashion set using the layout given. And the 4 of you who get style assignments are going to need to make a fashion set using the style given. Easy enough, isn't it? Don't be afraid to try new things! Be bold, be creative, and have fun most of all.
This is a FASHION challenge. Please keep your art sets away, cuz I'm not accepting em here. This is also the mandatory challenge. Make sure you do it, or you're going to have to be eliminated, and you don't want that. These assignments are done by me, in an attempt to stay in keeping with everyone's ability. And if you have any questions about what constitutes your given assignment... post em here and I'll try to dig up an example for you.

I hear that your river of inspiration has gone dry... No fear! I have some tips, and ideas for you!

1) Look at other successful member's boutiques and fashions for inspiration. [no copying!]

2) Look at clothing in the real world that is unique, and decorative. Try to duplicate the jist of the outfit/apparel in the FDS.

3) Be Creative and use your noggin! Think about an outrageous theme, or something very simple and chic at the same time.

4) Use your resources! In the FDS think about great and unique ways to use stamps, cuts, and decos to go wild with your own style!

Dear Fashionistatobe,

I most certainly have advice for you! I feel your pain, when you say that "it has to look right", because some shirt styles may wear you rather than you wearing it. Of course, things that are uncomfortable are definitely out of the question, because who wants that? Styles that I recommend are:

1) Colors that bring out your best features, like your lips, hair, eyes, etc.

2) For slightly overweight girls, wear tops and dresses that emphasize the waist line, and flow out from there. Try to wear belts around the waist [not hips] to also do this correctly.

3) Obviously like I said before, Comfort counts!

4) Pay attention to my blog for more info on what styles are in and out. ;)

Each of you will be assigned an emotion, and must make an art set based on that emotion. Part of the judging this week is on how well your set reflects your emotion, so do your best! No other restrictions on this other than that it must reflect your given emotion.
This is an ART challenge. No fashion sets will be accepted for this challenge. This is also the mandatory challenge. If you don't do it you won't be allowed to continue in the competition.

Case closed. I found the dress.

A few days ago, I posted about my trouble finding an online store with the perfect dress for my friend's Birthday. Well, I got so fed up with online shopping, that I dragged my Mom out to the mall, and went to delias in person. Sure enough, the dress I had been drooling over on the web, was there before my eyes, in my exact size! I jumped for joy, and paid 34$ for this beauty:

So there goes all my troubles! I have the perfect dress, and stole a pair of silver heels from my Mom's closet. I am such a klutz, though that while trying on a pair of black heels, I fell right over, and the heel part of one shoe stabbed me in the ankle. I am definitely not what you call graceful. Now, all I need to worry about is not falling down the stairs on "opening night" and breaking my neck. :)

Q: My hair is full of static today and its not cooperating at all! Do any of you know any QUICK remedies for static hair (ive tried hairspray and water) thanks!!

A: There are numerous ways to cure hair that just won't stay down! First, the most common remedy, is running a Dryer sheet through your hair. One way that I use constantly- and you can use if you don't happen to have a dryer sheet on hand- thoroughly rub lotion on your hands, and run your hands through your hair (smooth it down) and presto change-o!

~Straighteners?~

Q: I am looking for a good hair straightener that won't extremely damage my hair and will straighten well. I am currently using a cheap Durabrand one from WalMart and it makes my hair straight but really damages it and makes it frizzy. If anyone knows of a good hair straightener that I could get then that would be great! :)

A: Hmmmm. The straightener I use is called "Remington; Wet 2 Straight". Although it specializes in straightening wet hair, I use it for the complete opposite. you can set it for different numbers, which control the temperatures. It is really easy to use and takes like 2 seconds to heat up. I got it for $30 from Target.

"You name it, I bought it!"

I am soooo fed up with online shopping right about now. I have a Mystery birthday party on Friday, where I am playing the role of the "clotheshorse", or an insane shopaholic, with the motto of: "You name it, I bought it". Searching for the perfect dress has been a challenge though. I have found a few winners at Forever21, and Delias, but at Delias the shipping takes 10 days, and at F21, it takes 5-7. Boo Humbug. My mom says she will take me shopping on Wednesday, but I have more State Assessment tests that day, and will probably die of tiredness. Oh well, a shopping trip is a shopping trip!

I'm sorry, long lacrosse practice has prevented me from adding more to this pitiful blog post. Heres your lesson of the day though, Never rely on Online Shopping in a pinch.

PREDICTIONS

In my last, last post I wrote about some of my Spring '09 fashion predictions. I was searching over google, and found some other girls' predictions, that I wanted to share with yall. :)

One-shoulder tops & dresses
Break out your strapless bra, because one-shoulder is going to be hot this year! Asymetrical dresses were all over the Spring 2009 runways, and it’s already a trend that’s being picked up by mainstream stores. Expect to wear this look a lot in ‘09

Metallics
Shiny shades of gold, silver, bronze, and platinum aren’t going anywhere soon! Metallics are always hot and I don’t see that changing much this year. I know I’ll continue to rock my favorite silver metallic bag. What about you?

Bold colors
Bright shades are always hot for spring, but even more so this year! The most popular colors will be hot pink, purple, orange, electric blue, and yellow.

Sheer
Sheer clothing is usually in style for spring, and I’m sure this will continue. We saw lots of sheer, layered dresses on the runways for Spring 2009 back in fall, and although they take a bit of planning to pull off, I think sheer clothes will catch on in the mainstream.

More body-conscious clothing
Loose is not going to be in for 2009, so learn to love tighter clothing that cinches you in at the waist. This is a definite trend for the year. Here’s an article I wrote about the cinched waist trend from last year - it’s still required reading for 2009.

More focus on individual style
I’ve talked about this before, but I think the focus in 2009 is going to shift a little from trend-centered dressing to dressing based on your individual style. You aren’t going to want to follow all the trends in 2009, instead you’ll probably pick and choose from the ones that flatter you and ditch the ones that don’t. And this is the right way to do it! Nothing looks great on everyone, and nothing fits everyone’s style. Wear the pieces that work for you, and skip everything that doesn’t.

MAIN CHALLENGE 1: It's All in the Jeans

Personally, I hate using jeans in sets. There's so much more you can do with a skirt. Jeans are pedestrian. And boring. To me at least. So what I want you to do for this challenge is to win me over with a great set that has a pair of jeans in it. Any kind of jeans, and any kind of outfit. Make it represent who you are and your personal style. Make it unique, and make it YOU!
Okay, so this is the first challenge. Let's make a good first impression, shall we? This one isn't too hard, so I want to see you shine. Do your best and have fun!
This is a FASHION challenge. No art sets will be accepted here. This is also the mandatory challenge. If you don't do it you won't be allowed to continue in the competition.You have until MONDAY, MARCH 23, at MIDNIGHT EST, to get your entries in. If you send it between midnight and when I wake up till Tuesday morning, I'll probably take it, but midnight is an easy cut-off time for everyone to remember so that's the actual deadline. Make an art set that includes WATER. No restrictions other than that it must be ART, and it must have WATER! Be creative, and have fun!ART challenge. No fashion sets accepted here. This is an optional challenge but you will get bonus points for entering! So do it. It's easy and fun, and you have nothing to lose.

You have until WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, at MIDNIGHT EST, to get your bonus challenge entries in. If I get them late they won't count. You won't get eliminated... but you'll lose your chance to win the bonus challenge!

Took a really L O N G state assessment today. Let me assure you that it was the most boring thing ever, and we only had 5 minutes of a snack break - which was to be done in SILENCE. I. know. complete. boredom. Overall, the test was simple, but the state takes them SO darn seriously! You cannot bring any books to read in between sections, and they collect your scrap- or doodle [for me]- paper and you have to use #2 pencils and such. Blech. Hope your day was better than mine!

SPRING '09 Trends-to-be

Runway:
Yellow, pink and blue brightened runways around the globe. Even animal prints got a bright update at Cavalli and Lanvin.

Reality:
The official "It" color of Spring 2009 is yellow, and it's available in everything from a greenish-yellow hue to schoolbus yellow. Although there are plenty of separates and dresses in this sunny hue, the easiest way to wear bright yellow is to pick it up in bags, like at Marc Jacobs, or other accessories.
You're better off choosing a bright that flatters your coloring (blues and pinks are often easiest) than just choosing what's hot (like bright yellow).
Don't be tempted to mix the brights with black (too '80s). Pair with white, denim or other brights for the freshest look.

Im still new to it, but so far I know that they ask questions and you give answers. Apparently it is for those with "Writer's Block", like moi. Soo.... one of the Questions is:

What to do if you hair sticks up?

If you hair sticks up frequently then you have cuticle damage which means the outer layers are peeling up exposing the inside fiber. An intact cuticle protects the fiber. In intact cuticle protects the fiber when it's interrupted the fiber is more susceptible to static and other elements. Try using a silicone based or leave in conditioner after you shampoo. This will coat the fiber making it less prone to static. It also might help to use a natural bristle brush rather then synthetic

Applying eye shadow to achieve big beautiful eyes?

Most eye shadows are merchandised in 3 or 4 complementary shades with 2 neutral colors which is what I call the base color and the darker color which is what I call the accent color and a lighter color which is what I refer to as the highlight color.
Apply base color on the eyelid and apply the accent (darker color) from lash line to the brow (in the crease of the eye). Use the highlighting color for highlighting the brow bone.

I am so so so so soooooo sorry for the lack of posts since the polyvore sets. Yes, snow piled down all night here. 6 inches!!!!! OMGG! That definitely is a record breaker! Usually we get out of school after about 2 inches..... But it's too bad we already had school cancelled because of some teachers meeting. :( Oh well.... I think I'll live.

MY GIRLSENSE RANT

As you know, a certain member, Brownsugar0000's priceless, beautiful fashions were wiped out completely by a member who was "Having a bad day". Now, until now we all probably thought that Girlsense had us covered with all these awesome ways to keep our fashion friends safe, the flagging button. But now that the option has been abused, shouldn't Girlsense show their support and possibly figure out some other way to get rid of the bad? Yes. Exactly. Now, a chain of members are neglecting GS by "leaving" and finding refuge in some other site. What website wants that? No one. So here me out, leave comments and create your own arguments.

My First Ice-Skating Experience

(Keeping my experience short-but-sweet......)

Yep, Believe it or not, yesterday was my very first time ice-skating!!! I am still in one piece (sp) and only fell 3 times! [that is pretty good for a first timer] It was fun nontheless. I have one bruise on my knee the size of a large golfball, but I have no broken bones!

[uh yea, thats it.] Or, just because people are going crazy over them and buying all the knock-off, lookalike dresses and such, and its kind of funny. Anyways....
